Self depricating? Or just another trick?

So I was watching TV last night on one of the English Language channels (obviously, I suppose) and this ad come on. Two models are getting their hair/makeup done and one of them goes "I love working with Chinese designers, they're so blah blah blah." Oh its an ad for Chinese fashion, I think. Then they cut to a Chinese model mutter something in Chinese to her stylist and they both laugh. The two American models look at each other and start talking about how great Chinese designers are in Chinese. The Chinese model looks shocked and mildly ashamed. The ad ends with, "Chinese is on the rise, learn Chinese at blah blah blah."

That's their ad campaign? Learn Chinese because, as you know, we're sneaky conniving bastards who have nothing better to do than talk about you behind your back. That's right, if you see two of the billion of us having a private joke, the likely odds are we are laughing at you, or just at stupid gwailo round eyed forgeinors who we charge too much for goods and secretly serve dog to in general. So learn Chinese before we take over and use our personal senisitivity to your advantage!

What are the other ads? Restaurant with over priced food? Railroad workers plotting to unionize? Opium deal gone bad? I can't tell if the joke is Westerners are paranoid and self involved or if the company is actually betting on public rudeness of the Chinese to carry their business. Bizarre.
